Utah for Austin's Funeral

May 5th, 2011

Jenna, Shelbey and I decided we needed to be there for Amy, so we flew out to Utah to be with her while we celebrated Austin's life with her whole family. Jenna's grandpa picked us up and took us to lunch in Salt Lake City. Then, we visited the huge Mormon Temple there and walked all around the property. It was really pretty and they had SO many tulips everywhere!! I loved it :) Then, we met up with Amy to shop for a special red accessory for the funeral. It was a beautiful day and we all enjoyed each others company. We went back to her grandparents and then she took us to her favorite Italian restaurant. It was the perfect way to spend the evening. Just the four of us, being silly and laughing hysterically.

The nest morning was the day to celebrate Austin. Amy and her family had a fun, colorful, memorable day planned for him. It was beautiful. We all said a little word about him, there were songs, and prayers, and then they closed the casket. The burial was at a pretty place and again there were songs and prayer, and then my favorite part. They used to sing "The Austin Man" song to him (to the tune of "The Muffin Man"), so we all got balloons and sang the Austin Man song and then released our balloons to heaven. I'm sure it made Austin smile. It was so sweet.

Then we went back to Amy's Aunt's house for dinner and a nice afternoon with her family. We stayed over at her aunts and spent the night hanging out with Chris and her cousin Ryan. It was fun times.

The next day Ryan took us to Mexican and then we went to get his daughter. We took a trip up to the mountains that surround the entire city! It was really cool. The weather was warm, but there was still snow everywhere. A fun little afternoon trip. Plus, Jenna and Ryan really hit it off ;)
